Foxy Joxy Plays a Trick follows a clever fox who sells watermelons. One day, Foxy Joxy comes up with a plan to trick the other animals; they are not happy with what he does and must decide how to teach him a lesson.
This funny animal book gives children an entertaining way to explore consequences. Foxy Joxy believes his clever idea will benefit him. However, his actions negatively affect the other animals.
That creates a natural opening for conversations about fairness as well as cause and effect. Children can discuss whether Foxy Joxy’s actions were fair. They can also think about how his choices affected others, how one decision leads to another – without feeling that they are being personally criticised. They explore how actions have consequences.
This makes the book useful for parents who want stories with a meaningful message. It also works well for classroom discussions. Teachers can ask children what they would have done differently.
The book is particularly suitable for preschoolers and kindergarteners. Early readers can also discuss the story after reading independently.
